What do Jehova's Witnesses tell their children about Christmas? - christmas yard displays
Do not attack people for their beliefs here. Just curious. There were neighbors on my street who practice this religion, and I always wondered how they tell their children they can not celebrate Christmas. Every house in our neighboorhood have lights, wreaths and displays the court, but his own, and I always wondered how he treated the children. And how to deal with not celebrate birthdays? It would be sad if a child could not gifts for birthdays or Christmas preserved, while their classmates and other children around me new toys and games. How to explain?

Both parents are Jehovah's Witnesses to decide how best to explain the differences between the practices of the families of witnesses and those of its neighbors.
Typically this means to perpetuate the division of truth than lies. Have no divine plan appears to be notified is for everyone, including young children. When a child learns at age 5 that her parents have always lied to no Santa Claus, as he said himself at 15 when his teachers and fellow students that their parents have lied, Jesus and God?
In fact, many parents are obsessed with their own preferences rather than preferences of God and Christ. Jehovah's Witnesses teach that salvation can come without Christ, but to accept the sacrifice of Christ is a prerequisite for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of the Kingdom of God, Christ is the head of the Christian community that Christ is immortal and above every creature, as Christ was the master "of workers in the founding of the United NationsIversen!
Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. This is not to celebrate "Christmas" because "Christmas is not" celebrating Christ, "Christmas" pagan feast of Saturnalia. Jesus was not born in December. Almost all calls Christmas customs dishonor Christ.
(Jeremiah 10:2-5) Thus says the Lord: Learn not the way of all nations ... 3 For the customs of the villages are only a breath, because it is a tree that just because people in the forests of the manual work of the artisans has cut with scissors. 4 silver and gold for some. With hammer and nails, which can be down, no one holding coil. ... something good is not with them. "

Instead, it is tragic that holidayChrist actually * ask Christians to commemorate is entirely ignored by almost all of Christendom. It is of course the memory of Christ's death, sometimes referred to as "The Last Supper" or the "Last Supper."
(1 Corinthians 11:23-25, NWT) The Lord Jesus in the night he was betrayed took bread ... Take this do in remembrance of me. 25 The same was done in compliance with the cup ... .. Take this in remembrance of me. "
(1. Corinthians 11:24, 25, NEB) "Do this in remembrance of me."
Jesus Christ personally celebrated and explained the significance of the Last Supper with his disciples (see Matthew 26:26-29). Christians celebrate the Eucharist, that the Jewish calendar date of it as Jesus did, Nisan 14, which is usually between late March and mid April. It is interesting that Christians have been over the centuries immediately after Christ piles sometimes called "Quartodecimans," which literally translates as "Fourteen-ers", because the first Christianss are also known for this holy day indeed.
How did Jesus know the feeling that the party has been largely ignored orders, while his supporters have decided to hold a so-called pagan false god and their own traditions of men? No reason to wonder.
(Matthew 15:6-9) You have the word of God invalid because of its tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied rightly about you when he said: 8 "This people honors me with their lips but their heart is far from me. 9 It is in vain to keep worshiping me, because they teach people to Command as teachings. I have two children. I tell them the truth. I give the history of the festival. You are old, but when they get older, I'm sure it will hold more questions, the truth .. I'm trying to remain faithful to the Lord and not man. I can only hope that I install it on my boys.
I would also like to add. Just because we do not want the holidays you can not buy gifts for our children. But not a specific day or days.
Thank you for asking the time.
I grew up as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I can say from the perspective of the child, do not bother me at all not. It appears sporadically throughout the year. We do not need a reason to "special" gifts or other evidence of love.
Now I am a father of 2 children whom I raised as Jehovah's Witnesses. Christmas is just another day. No big Deal!
How, why:
Cyclopaedia McClintock and Strong wrote: "The celebration of Christmas is not the divine calling, and there is no N [ew T] [] estament source. The date of the birth of Christ can not be determined by N [T pe] [estament] or even from another source. "- (New York, 1871), vol. II, p. 276
The Encyclopedia Americana informs us: "The reason for establishing December 25 as Christmas is a little dark, but overall the day has been chosen to pagan festivals that took during the winter solstice match when the days begin to lengthen, the "rebirth of the sun .... The Roman Saturnalia celebrationNalia (a festival dedicated to Saturn, the god of agriculture and the renewed strength) of the sun, also conducted at this time, and some Christmas customs are thought to be rooted in this ancient pagan celebration. "- (1977), vol. 6, p. 666
The New Catholic Encyclopedia admits: "The date of Christ's birth is not known. The Gospels indicate neither the day nor the months ... According to the hypothesis proposed by H. Usener ... and accepted by most scientists today, birth of Christ was assigned the date of the winter solstice (December 25, according to the Julian calendar, January 6 at the Egyptian), because celebrated on that day when the sun began its return to northern skies, the pagan followers of Mithra Dies Natalis Solis Invicta (Birth of the Invincible SUN). On December 25, 274, Aurelian had proclaimed the sun-god principal patron of the empire and dedicated a temple for him in the Champ de Mars. Noel was at a time when the sun was particularly strong cult was born in Rome . '- (1967), vol. III, p. 656
When "Santa" does not exist, then you have to help many people, and I'm sure you know who they are.
Several years ago, the deputy editor of U.S. Catholic magazine said:
"While the real lesson of Christmas is a message of divine mercy and sacrifice, is the man against Santa greedy corporations, and the guardian of greed, for millions of American children. He is the saint of Gimme. It became an outright sale of materialism and greed. It is the balance of the toy manufacturers and department stores. A hungry child can not be softened. A spoiled child is happy about anything. A spoiled child is convinced that the main character of Christmas is not Christ, but himself. "
This editor thought that was submitted to the North Pole to Santa.
Our children, and at an early age, she knew, and she said it was someone like Santa Claus, we've never been a problem with them. We have not established an annual day to gifts for our children could, every day, week or month.
Children of Jehovah's Witnesses do not miss the gifts and pleasures themselves.Actually to readjust the balance of love with friends and family that many children who have none.
Jehovah's Witnesses reject practices and ceremonies, or undertake are derived from pagan beliefs and ideas.
And like the Jehovah's Witnesses, we are close to the Bible and our lives according to their fair principles. As children of Jehovah's Witnesses, they have learned from childhood to live their lives according to the norms of the Lord. They understand why they do not miss not celebrate events. They out.Jehovah 's cookies a pretext to restrict gifts to specific needs presents.Nor days year.Believe my children enjoyed the kids are giving the Lord's very balanced and satisfied . They have something that other children do not and it is the truth of the sacred word of God, what life is eternal life.
It's good to know that you sincerely. Yes, it seems that Christianity "seems to believe that Christmas is the celebration of Christ ... But ... The Bible says that Jesus was a child, when the wise men came to him to give gifts to, was about . 2 years or less, plus I lived in a house, not in a manger, or even in the barn. For Christmas, I tell my children the truth. We study the Bible together, or "My Book of Bible Stories" or " learn from the great teacher "and showing the writings of the Bible, what is acceptable and what is not acceptable to God. I tell them do not wait a day for each year on their birthday or receive gifts or travel to meetings with family and friends. I say we need to honor God and Christ all day and not just for Christmas ... and that Christ was not born on December 25, but in October or November, I say that Christ will not want us to his birthday celebrate (this is why there is no date in the Bible exactly whenborn), but we want to commemorate the death. (No exact date for the Bible).
My kids never ignore or lose. We are always in meetings, parties, meetings at the weekend. We always go together as a family and do funny things. Always donations and gifts received by us and others. They have toys than just a games room for their stuff! People always be things throughout the year. Thus, the witnesses of the child will not miss the fun and joy. You will receive every day, not only for a special occasion, like the others.
It is simply not a religious holiday. It is a pagan holiday, which means that Christ is the cheapest and spiritual message of his Lord and Savior. For the same reason, do not celebrate Halloween because it is a pagan festival, not the Lord has the supernatural light of the infernal spirits, witches and devils. The Scriptures do not accept it and not even the controls.
Really, that is the explanation. They are 100% Gung Ho for his faith and the written word to Santa, reindeer and Christmas shopping and to remove devil costumes Trun. I understand.
